The Black Horse Inn is an 18th century pub with rooms in the village of Donington on Bain, near Louth in the Lincolnshire Wolds, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. We offer a friendly welcome, exceptional food plus regularly changing real ales and wines. We are fortunate to have no less than nine micro-beweries in the local area, so Lincolnshire brewed ales and ciders are almost always available.

With eight rooms, the Black Horse Inn also offers the perfect place to stay for business customers or those exploring the local area - we are only 10 minutes from Cadwell Park motor circuit, Market Rasen Racecourse can be reached in 15 minutes and the city of Lincoln is just a 30 minute car journey.

"It's a great place to socialise with friends over a drink, enjoy a delicious lunch or dinner from our exciting menu or just relax with a coffee and some home made shortbread. We look forward to seeing you soon!"
Adam and Victoria Garnade

About Us

Adam and Victoria Garnade took over The Black Horse Inn in late December 2015.

Adam is a classically trained chef and has worked throughout the UK and Europe. He's delighted to return to his roots, running a country pub with his wife, Victoria.

Victoria is passionate about history, tradition and hospitality - the pub's offering reflects this. Together with their small but perfectly formed team (including their two children) the couple are very proud to be the new Landlord and Lady of The Black Horse Inn.

Adam and Victoria see The Black Horse Inn as not only being an integral part of local community life, but also as a welcoming place for people who are visiting this beautiful part of the country.

The Local Area

Lincolnshire really does have it all - countryside, coast, the Vales, the Fens, the Wolds and the historic city of Lincoln to explore. That doesn't mean it's a sleepy place, there's always lots going on and plenty to see and do, here are some of our favourites...

Two wheels are the perfect way to explore Lincolnshire. We are a cyclist friendly pub and welcome clubs and individuals looking to refuel during a ride, or use The Black Horse as a base.

There are some stunning walks right on our doorstep including the Viking Way. There's also the 16 day Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival held in May to look out for.

Nothing beats a day at the races (if you're winning!) - Market Rasen Racecourse is only minutes away and offers year round jump racing. There's also Rasen Rocks in August for music fans.
